One Year Update and Well-Check

I've been a one-year-old for two whole weeks now and I'm finally writing a little update. I had my one-year well-check with my doctor and I'm a healthy boy! I did have to get four shots which was not fun for me or for mommy. I also got a little sick about a week ago from one of the immunizations. I had a fever of 102 for almost three whole days. It didn't bother me too much except for making it hard to sleep. I was restless and didn't sleep well for two nights and it made me a little fussy but as soon as my fever went away I was back to my normal, happy self. At the doctors I weighed in at 20 lbs 11 oz which is in the 40th percentile and I am 2' 5.5" which is 37%. My head circumference in 46 cm which is 48%.

The doctor gave us a list of all the things I should be doing between 12-15 months old. I'm doing many of them already and am on track to doing the rest of them soon. I pull to standing all by myself and walk well with support, mommy thinks I'll be walking on my own soon in no time! She can't believe it! I'm no longer a baby but officially a toddler now! I have no problem climbing stairs and I also love to throw and play ball and patty-cake and play chase and peek-a-boo. I also catch on to new games quickly. I'm also showing interest in "coloring" and sometimes draw on our chalkboard chicken or with pen on paper. I'm saying a couple words, like "Rio" and "Uh-oh" and "Momma." I'm also learning sign language and can say "all done" and "more." Mommy is trying to teach me "please" and hopes I learn it soon so I don't whine so much. I can ask nicely for my binky or to get picked up.

I'm not sure hows it's possible, but somehow I'm the most independent and clingy little boy. I love to be held and picked up and I am sometimes attached to mommy or grandma and I also love getting attention, but I also love to do things on my own and don't like being told "No!" I'll get mad or sometimes get really sad when I'm not allowed to do what I want to. When it comes to eating and food, I'm pretty much done with baby food. I like trying new foods but sometimes I'm picky. The bottle still not my favorite but I drink a little bottle when I get up in the morning and before my naps and bedtime. I like eating yogurt, fresh fruit like strawberries and nectarines, peanut butter sandwiches, cheese pizza, quesadillas, and chicken soup.

Mommy can't believe I'm a year old already, she thinks this past year has gone by so fast but at the same time, she can hardly remember what she did before she had me! She loves me so much and doesn't know what she'd do without me. She wishes time would go by a little more slowly but she loves seeing me grow and learn new things. She thinks I'm just getting cuter and cuter, and even though I'm getting a little bit of an attitude, mommy loves my personality. I have so much energy sometimes and love to crawl around and get into everything and learn and explore. Mommy thinks I'm funny and that I have a cute sense of humor. Check out a cute video of me laughing at my youtube site. I'm still always a good boy when we go out and am so happy and friendly to everyone. I love to smile and wave hello and goodbye. Some of my favorite things right now are playing in the sink while grandma gets ready in the morning, pushing my new shopping cart all by myself, giving "head bonks" and kisses, and I love having both my wubbanub binkies at the same time. I also love airplanes and often hear them and see them before anyone else. I still love lights and playing in water and I also love going out at night before bedtime and looking at the moon with grandpa.
