I love being outside and running and playing in dirt and water so mommy knew how much I'd enjoy being at the beach. Some of her favorite memories are going to the Oregon coast every summer and she knew I'd have a blast! She didn't want to wait any longer to take me to ocean. She looked into some other places in Washington but she just couldn't go anywhere else but Manzanita. She didn't want daddy to miss out on my first time to the ocean so she made reservations for a long weekend that daddy had off work and we went to the beach!
I woke up Friday morning with a fever and a tummy ache and mom was worried we'd have to leave a day late! But we took the morning easy and I didn't have any problems after breakfast so we decided to leave and I did just fine in the car. We left at noon and I fell asleep right away but didn't sleep too long. We hit some traffic through Tacoma and again when there was an accident. I did pretty good just riding in the car and looking at a couple books and we stopped at a rest stop right before Longview. We then drove to Astoria and stopped at the Safeway for a Starbucks. We then drove the rest of the way and got to Manzanita just after 5pm. I fell asleep again for the last 30 minutes of our drive. We unpacked the car and walked to town for some pizza. We didn't spend too much time on the beach because we wanted to go to bed early so we could get up bright and early on Saturday! But it was so beautiful to be there for the sunset that first night and we saw the moon right outside our front window!
On Saturday morning we got up and walked to the coffee and donut shop for breakfast. I didn't eat too much of my donut but I loved my hot chocolate! I was in heaven drinking hot chocolate right on the beach! It was so sunny and warm in the morning! Mommy wasn't expecting it to be so nice, there wasn't even wind in the morning! I loved running on the beach and playing in the water! Grandpa called to tell us the lowest tide for the whole weekend was that morning at 11:30 we decided to go to Hug Point to see the caves and tide pools. The wind really picked up when we were there so we didn't stay too long but we had fun checking out the "tunnels" and climbing on the rocks. We went back to our hotel and mom planned on me napping but I wouldn't settle down. We watch some of Cars but I never fell asleep so we decided to walk around town again and get a hot dog for lunch. After that I still didn't nap so we took advantage of the wind and went to the beach to fly my kite. I loved watching my kite and playing in the sand some more! After that we walked to town again for some green mint ice cream (my favorite because of my Dream Train book). Then I went swimming with daddy in the pool. It was a little chilly because the sun was already going down but I love the water so much that it didn't matter! After a shower we settled in for the night and I went right to sleep after a fun and busy day!
On Sunday we woke up and drove to the Big Wave Café for a yummy breakfast. I had bacon and sausage and some of mommy's French toast. Yum! We then headed to beach to play before the wind picked up in the afternoon. One of my favorite things was making sand fish and sand castles with mommy! I also loved running away from the waves! After that we drove up to Cannon Beach to walk around town. We walked through a few shops and of course stop by Bruce's Candy Kitchen for some treats. I also got to play with the trains at Geppetto's Toy Store and I could have stayed there forever! They had Name Trains there where you can get a train car with each letter of your name but the were out of the engine and the letter "C" so mommy just bought the cute little red caboose the said Cannon Beach on it as a souvenir. We went to Manzanita and I stayed with daddy while mom went to look through the stores in town. We tried a nap again but I just wanted to have more fun. So we went back to the beach to fly my kite again and then daddy went to take a little nap and mommy and I found a good spot on the beach out of the wind and we played for a really long time in the sun! Lots of digging and we made a lot of castles and fishes! Our plan was to go swimming again in the pool but I finally crashed and fell asleep at 4:30pm. Mommy didn't want me to sleep long so that I would go to sleep again that night but she could not wake me up! So they put me in my stroller around 6 to walk to town to get dinner and I finally woke up. We got take out Mexican food and after that they knew they needed to wear me out before bed. So we went to the Manzanita park and we had a lot of fun playing there for quite awhile. Since it was our last night we decided to spend the evening on the beach and play and watch the sunset. We had a lot of fun and went back to shower and pack up a bit and we didn't get to bed until almost 11pm!
We woke up Monday and packed the car and checked out by 9:30 so we could get some more hot chocolate and spend some time on the beach before we left. We stopped by Cannon Beach on our way home so we could get treats for everybody at home. We had to bring home some Haystack bread and chocolates! Daddy took me to the car to get all settle in for our drive home and mom just had to go back to the toy store to check on the trains. The lady said that they are able to send us any letter we needed and that we could get the display engine! She was so excited and she surprised me with my whole name! We still need to get a picture of it! We left Cannon Beach at 12:30 and I fell asleep right away and slept all the way to Chehalis and woke up around 3! We stop at a rest stop real quick and got out snacks and we made it home at 4:30! There was no traffic! We had such a wonderful time! We were supposed to stay until Tuesday and even though we had a lot of fun and I had a blast on the beach, we decided it just wasn't the same without the whole family! Mommy missed spending the afternoons and nights playing games and cards and having everyone around for bon fires. Mommy and daddy are going to start lobbying for everyone to go together next summer!
