Just an Update

I'm 10 months old now, can you believe it? I'm eating more finger foods like puffs, rice cakes, vanilla wafers, little chunks of banana. I love to eat "real" food and I love trying new foods. I really like new flavors, and although I love sweet, I also like salty and savory, too. I like different soups and I even like grapefruit! Grandma lets me chew on her grapefruit rind and mommy's always shocked I don't think it's too bitter! I still love yogurt and my baby brekkies and my fruit and grain purees but I don't really like lumpy baby food very much. I'm very spoiled and get to have ice cream almost every night. I love sharing ice cream with grandpa! I love regular milk and mom uses it to trick me into eating more of my food. I like trying to drink out of a cup or water bottle and I'm really figuring out how to use a straw.

Mommy thinks I'm going to crawl any day now! I've managed to move forward a couple times but I don't go very far before I collapse and give up. I move backwards really well and I move and change directions easily. I also move pretty good while standing and holding onto furniture. You can see in the picture below how far I moved, mom left me playing on the other side of my play table, the side closest to the bed, and when she came back from the other room, I was in the doorway!

Mommy can't believe all the new things I can do and how much I learn everyday. I love playing peek-a-boo type games and pick up on new little games so quickly, like "jumping" or rolling off the couch to mommy, or honking people's noses. I'm already learning to share my food with others. When mommy or someone else opens their mouth and says "aaaahhh" I'll hold out my hand with a little piece of food for them. Mommy thinks it's so cute. I like reading books in my rocking chair or sitting with my moose and I can also even turn the pages of my books by myself. When mommy reads me a book I'll turn to the next page all on my own!

I like boxes and taking things out of bowls or containers, like the beads out of my play table, wipes out of their package or the little apples out of grandma's bowl. I also like buttons and find the smallest things to play with, like the ends of zippers and little holes. I still love Diet Coke cans, but I don't get as excited as I used to, probably because I've learned that I don't get to play with them. I still love lights and I like things that make loud noises, like the vacuum, paper shredder and even the lawn mower. I also like my spray bottle Nana bought for me. I loved Aunt Cindy's spray bottle when I got my haircut so Nana bought me two! I don't just like drinking but I also think it's fun when mommy sprays my feet or even my face!

I'm growing up and changing so fast that mommy wants to share a few more things she'll miss when I get bigger. Here's a few: my hair and how it's long and curly right on top, the back of my knees and my cute baby legs, my "flintstone" toes (as grandma calls them), the smell of my baby shampoo and body wash, the way I smell when I'm sleeping, how happy and smiley I usually am when I first wake up. Mommy likes how I kick my right leg when I'm laying down on my back, even when I'm falling asleep. She'll miss cuddling in bed in the morning and of course my slobbery, open-mouthed baby kisses! She also loves all my new facial expressions, like when I look surprised or confused. She even likes how I've learned to shake my head "no" even though it frustrates her sometimes. I've also started making this cute cooing sound when I talk sometimes and mommy thinks it's so sweet.
