Summer!

Can you believe it's the first day of summer and I haven't updated this blog since the beginning of March?! I blame it all on mommy! Spring time just got so busy with mommy working later in the afternoons and any free time we have we spent playing together so there hasn't been a lot of time to post on the blog. This morning we went to the Issaquah famer's market and had such a nice morning together with grandma and grandpa and Uncle Sam, aunt Natalie and Charlotte. It made me realize how many other things we've done during spring that I've just been to lazy or to busy to post. With summer starting, I knew I needed to get all caught up so I can be better about posting all our fun summer adventures!

The weather has been getting nicer and we've spend a lot of afternoons and evenings out on the street riding bikes. I love riding my strider balance bike and I am getting so fast! I am getting very confident on my bike and balance really well! Riding my bike is one of my favorite things to do and I love when my friend Deven from across the street is outside to ride bike together.

Over the past couple months, I've really been getting into sea life and love sea animals. I love sharks and whales and jellyfish and pretty much anything that lives in the ocean! My most favorite is the sperm whale and the giant squid! Mommy loves how interested I am in all animals and the ocean and how much I love learning more about the things my favorite things. I love to read books about the ocean and my favorite shows right now are the Octonuats and Wild Kratts. I also like bugs, snakes, dinosaurs, and outer space. I can't wait until it's warm a clear out at night so I can use my telescope. Daddy also just got me a cool space play mat with all the planets on it. My favorite things to play with at home are my sharks and whales. It's been a couple months since I've really been into my trains and cars but over the past week or so, I've really been getting back into playing with my racecars, my trains and my fire truck. Mommy was a little sad when I didn't seem to be as in love with trains as I was before, but I've just been so into my sea animals and I just don't have time to love and play with everything all the time!! I've also been spending so much time outside as weather has been getting nicer, so I'm not inside as much to play with my cars and trains. Ever since Sam came home from school, I've really started to love baseball! I'm getting good at practicing with my batting tee and I love when someone pitches the ball to me. I'm getting pretty good at swinging and hitting the ball!

I've certainly grown a lot in the last 3 months! Mommy thinks my legs are getting a little husky! She's definitely not worried about how much I'm eating anymore. I eat a lot better now even though eating is still not one of my favorite things to do. I'd rather do anything but sit and eat. I have started eating more foods and will even eat peanut butter sandwiches and broccoli! Some of my favorite foods are carrots, pepperoni pizza and watermelon. I am a bit of a sweet tooth and I love popsicles and anything chocolate, especially grandpa's chocolate chip cookies. I do need to drink more regular milk and lots more water!

Mommy just can't believe that I turn three in just over 2 months from now! I won't be her little toddler anymore! Mommy knows that the binkies have to go soon but it makes her sad! I still love my binkies and I know mommy will let me have them at nighttime for awhile longer. I've been getting so grown up in a lot of ways. I'm talking so much and say so many different things. I pick up different phrases and new words so well and I sometimes say new things that will surprise everyone. I've also started telling stories. I usually start with, "Once upon a time... One day there was a school of fish..." and usually something happens like they get eaten by a shark or they're inside a whales stomach. Mommy loves it when I tell a story! She thinks it's so cute. I also love to sing songs with grandma while we eat together. I'll always tap my finger on my forehead or chin and think really hard about which song to sing next. My favorite things to sing with grandma are nursery rhymes and songs from church.

I am also a very good helper. I love to help grandma with the laundry, from putting the clothes into the washing machine to helping her fold all the laundry. I also love to help grandpa with everything, especially help him cut watermelon. I am a good boy about picking up my toys, which is really good because I am also very good at making a mess! I leave toy animals and cars and balls all over the place! I am also very friendly! I love playing with my good friends from school and church and I am always so excited to see them! I am also happy to meet new friends at the park. I'll just go right over to new kids and say hi and start running around with them. Even though mommy is shy and doesn't like talking to new people, she's happy that I am so friendly and outgoing.

Mommy loves that I am so friendly and polite while we are out, but she also loves how friendly and polite I am at home. I am always good about having nice manners and saying please and thank you and I always say excuse me if I burp and bless you if someone sneezes. Mommy loves that I will say "bless me" after I sneeze myself. I am a silly boy and I have a good sense of humor. Sometimes I think I am really funny and will try to tell jokes and be silly to make others laugh. I am a super busy boy and I love to ride my bike and run and jump and dig for bugs in dirt and play in water. I'm pretty tough and rarely cry or get upset if I fall and get hurt or scrape my knees. My knees get pretty beat up when I'm outside in shorts! But even though I'm so busy and I'm a tough little boy, I am also very sweet and gentle. I love my baby cousins and I am usually very sweet with Charlotte. I also loves seeing babies and am very good about being gentle and I'll always say how cute they are and talk in a cute, silly voice. I am also very sweet to my mommy. I love to give her hugs and kisses and squeezes and will ask to read books to we can "snuggle up." I've never been attached to my blankies but lately I've been asking for my blanket while we rock in the rocking chair and read books. I also love to rock to sleep with Nana. Nana and Grandpa Dick take such good care of me a couple times a week while mommy works and I love snuggling with Nana at during naptime.

I am sure I've missed a lot of things about how I've changed over the past three months, but hopefully I won't go this long again without an update. With summer arriving and mommy being able to home from work for awhile, we'll be going out to do so many fun things. We'll make sure to be better at taking pictures and updating the blog. Also, this summer will be the bog push for potty training. I don't really have the interest in going potty on the toilet and I don't like wearing big boy underwear. Mommy got me special candy and little sea animal toys for incentive but it hasn't quite worked yet. As soon as we can plan a few days to be at home in a row, we'll really try to focus on potty training!

We've already spent a couple of our warm spring days at the beach! Here are a couple pictures! We also love to get our fair share of slurpees, chocolate chip Frappuccino's, blizzards, milks shakes and smoothies over the summer! Below is our first chocolate chip Frappuccino of the season!

P.S. Tonight was a big night for me! I climb out of my crib all by myself! I'm sure this new trick will lead to a more difficult bedtime routine sometimes but we'll see! . I walked out of my room so excited and so proud of myself! I was in such a funny, chatty, giddy mood afterward. I'm growing up so fast!
