We just got back from our magical trip to Disneyland and it was absolutely perfect! Mommy, grandpa and I had the most amazing time at Disneyland! I can't even put into words how wonderful our trip was and how much fun we had. Even with the few hiccups along the way, we enjoyed every moment. Mommy went into the trip knowing that maybe she was more excited than I was, and that me being three would mean some tantrums along the way or maybe me not being as excited about some things as she was hoping for. But mommy was never disappointed and neither was I! I loved meeting the characters and the rides and the parades. I loved being with grandpa and mommy. I was also a trooper even when I got a little tired. We had non-stop fun and it really was magical! The weather was also perfect! Warm and sunny the entire time. It was even a bit too hot on our last full day, 85-plus degrees. And it was going to be in the 90's the day we left! We're actually glad we didn't have to trek around when it was that hot. We really had such a fantastic time and I miss it already!
Saturday 9/27
We woke up super early on Saturday morning to head to the airport for our flight. I was so excited for my first plane ride! We checked in (I mentioned my little barfing incident, just coughing and gagging on an empty stomach) but we smoothly made it to our gate in plenty of time for breakfast and a little plane watching. I also made some friends while waiting for our flight. I was super excited for take-off and mom even got it on video! Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuJVkRASOZI. The plane ride went very well and I was such a good boy! I was happy with mommy's kindle and my new head phones. I also loved my sprite and ice. (Another "fun" incident was when I spilt a whole cup of sprite during the plane ride on mommy's new backpack, but mommy knows it's just the type of thing that happens when you travel with a three year old!) The flight went by quickly and I just barely dozed off during our descent and landing.
We made it to our ground transportation and got to take the Disney Cars Land bus to Disneyland! A bus with Lightening McQueen painted on it! We made good time to the hotel and checked into our room. Did I mention that grandpa and mommy lost me while waiting to check-in? I wondered into the very enticing gift shop while they both weren't; looking. It was actually a good reminder for both of to keep an extra close I on me for the rest of the trip! During check-in, I got two special pins to wear on my trip, a "my first visit" button and a "it's my birthday button." I kept them on for most the trip and everyone gave me extra special birthday wishes and attention. Characters and cast members would wish me a happy birthday and it made it even more special! We then went to our room and dropped off our stuff and headed to Disneyland!
We walked through downtown Disney and into the park and it was magical from the first moment! As soon as we got into the park I saw Minnie Mouse and I was so excited. It was a short line to see her and mom thought I did a great job waiting considering it was my first time and first character and learning how the whole line-thing worked for seeing characters. When it was my turn, I ran up to Minnie and gave her the biggest hug! It was amazing! I was so happy to meet her and from that moment on the whole Mickey and friends gang I now refer to as "My Friends at Disneyland." Mommy loves that they are my friends and that I was so happy to meet each character. Pluto was near by Minnie so we saw him next. Again, I was so excited to see him in person and it truly was magical!
After that we headed to our first ride, Pirates of the Caribbean! Mommy wasn't sure how I'd react to the more "spooky" or intense rides but I love it. We call it "silly scary" and it was so fun! I loved the "scary waterfall" and the pirates and the music and the whole experience! Even though it was a Saturday afternoon, the lines for the more popular rides were only about 20 minutes. After pirates we went to the Haunted Mansion. Again, mom was a little nervous about how I might react but mommy and grandpa made it super fun and told me about the silly ghosts and scary elevator and I helped grandpa be brave. I had so much fun and wanted to ride Pirates and the Haunted Mansion over and over again! And now one of my favorite characters is Jack Skellington of all people! After that, we decided to head over to Fantasyland and ride Dumbo and the Carousal!
We then headed back to Main Street to find a good seat for the parade. We ended up seeing Mickey Mouse and there was even a line! Mommy loved seeing my reaction to Mickey! It was incredible to see the real Mickey Mouse in person! We don't quite remember when, but at some point during the afternoon, we rode the train around the park. We definitely rode it after our first trip to Pirates and Haunted Mansion but before we sat down for the parade. What I do remember is how much I loved the train ride! First, I love trains! Second, it was a nice relaxing break! It was fun to see the scenery all around Disneyland and the tunnel through Tomorrowland was my favorite part! We got to see dinosaurs!
After we found a good spot on the curb for the parade, Grandpa went and grabbed us some hotdogs for dinner while we waited. I just loved Mickey's Soundsational Parade! It was so fun and exciting. The first float was a Frozen float and Queen Elsa wished me a happy birthday! It was so Special! The whole parade was so fun!
After the parade, we headed back to the Haunted Mansion again! Around 8pm, mommy went and staked out a good spot for fireworks and grandpa took me to ride a few more rides in Fantasyland. One of my favorites turned out to be the Tea Cups! Grandpa makes sure he holds the steering wheel steady so it doesn't spin too fast. I think I'd love to spin super fast but grandpa and mommy would get sick! After are rides we found mommy and sat for a little waiting for the firework show. I ended up falling asleep just in time for the show to begin! I was so tired that I didn't even wake up when the fireworks began! Thankfully I didn't miss much. The firework show was called off half way through due to high-altitude winds! Oh well! We still had a magical first day! We even headed to the Monorail to ride out of the park. It was a nice little ride around the Disney property and the stop drops you off in downtown Disney, it takes about half the walking off the trip from the park to hotel. We got to our room and went to sleep about 10pm. I even had my own little bed on the sleeper couch. We were all so tired and we all slept great!
